Chickadee

Poor little guy sitting on the ground
You hit my window in flight
Not moving around, nor making a sound
The noise gave me such a fright

I looked around almost passed you by
Then I saw you sitting there
You didn't raise your wings in flight
All I could do was stare

I walked very slowly over to you
Picked you up, held you in my hand
The fear in your eyes I could see
You couldn't move your legs to stand

I talked to you and you blinked your eyes
And you moved your head around
You started looking up in the sky
Where your little friends could be found

I held you gently in my warm hand
and you blinked then blinked some more
Then ruffled your feathers and flew away
And I turned and walked back in the door

I went out the next day to fill up the seed
And was very surprised to see
I held out my hand and down it flew to eat
That sweet little chickadee
